The Manual reviewed by the group has now been finalized for distribution after wide consultation. The aims of this manual are: 1.) To introduce standardized methods for data collection, analysis and quality control in epidemiological assessment and monitoring for CVD. 2.) To develop appropriate indicators for measuring the efficiency and impact of programmes on prevention and control of CVD. This Manual is designed to be usable for monitoring morbidity at the country level where data collection systems may not be very advanced. Risk factor surveys will need to supplement this information; they are the subject of other manuals and standards in development. The Manual can be a very useful tool to support CVD monitoring. It will assist the simplification and standardization of CVD data collection and analysis in the Region. The Manual can also serve as training material for health workers. Continuous efforts will be needed to introduce these methods more widely into NCD epidemiological practice in the Region. aCardiovascular diseasesxEpidemiology aCardiovascular diseasesxStatistics aEpidemiologic surveillance aData collectionxMethods aStatisticsxMethods aManuals aUniversity of Newcastle.
