This paper summarizes the experience of SeATS with subprojects and activities of the Youth Initiative in 8 countries: Albania, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, eritrea, Russia, Senegal, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Many of these youth-oriented subprojects and activities reflect agreed-upon best practices, and others represent novel approaches to promoting, protecting, and improving the youth's sexual and reproductive health. Some of the lessons that SeATS learned as it carried out its mandate to improve health services for youth while simultaneously applying a range of documented best practices and testing new approaches are: 1) addressing the needs of the youth does not require starting with a separate project or intervention targeting youth; 2) basic human rights, including clients' rights and reproductive rights, are a compelling rationale for offering reproductive health education and services to young people; 3) the cost associated with referral services are a barrier to access; and 4) peer educators can be very resourceful fundraisers.

Place hold on Applying best practices to youth reproductive health.

Developing health and family planning materials for low-literate audiences : a guide.
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Zimmerman, Margot.
.
64p.

Place hold on Developing health and family planning materials for low-literate audiences : a guide.
